Windows vista not detecting new hardware
I'm taking your using the RTM bulid. Drivers will come out with in the next few months. It just hit RTM and this is the time when they start making and shipping out drivers. Did you use Windows update or go to the hardwares manufactor?
It seems prety bad when that amny drivers faild to pop up? My PC is an old Dell Demension. It has the hardware specs for Vista. I have another PC that I used to go to the manufacture's site and download all the drivers and try to update the hardware in the dell PC but Vista kept saying there is no such hardware. It's not that Vista don't have the driver, I got the driver but Vista just not recognize the hardware that associated with the driver.
I had a painful time getting my Soundblaster Live! Buy a new computer and buy Vista Legally. Pls don't buy Dell and you might accually have a decent computer. Many thanks for the responses. This is only for testing that's why I use an old Dell PC. And yes, I'm pretty sure that once it is released I hope it will not have these kind of problems.
Now, back to the issue. I now see my other RAID drives. As for my other hardware, well, I found out that, at least in my case, supporting for old hardware is much worst than Windows XP. Vista will not allow me to install any driver that is not Vista compatible or signed. I finally downloaded a beta driver from SoundBlaster and now my sound card does work.
Here is the error mesage when I tried to install an old driver that works perfectly fine under Windows XP Pro. Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your system.
However, as I mentioned above when I install the new Vista comptible driver from Sound Blaster it works fine. Vista's error message makes it sounds like there is not such hardware in my computer. I would like to double confirm whether the wireless network can be detected in Windows Vista. If the wireless Router is configured as non-broadcast hidden network, refer to the following KB article:.
If it is not configured as non-broadcast and the wireless network cannot be detected, please check the status of the network adapter:.
Click Start, type Devmgmt. If the wireless network has been detected but cannot be connected, please let me know the exact wording of the error message. It would be better if you would capture a screenshot for me. There are no errors shown on the Network Adapter in device manager it actually shows my wireless adapter belkins within it all working fine. It runs 'Identyfying program' for a bit and then gets back to me with a message saying. Based on my research, this kind of issue is usually hardware-related.
Please perform the following steps and check the result:. If the service is not running, please start it in Services control panel. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback.
On another Microsoft Answers thread, I was advised to do an "inplace upgrade" of Vista to resolve a problem I was having with opening Word documents. I followed the directions provided but was unable to do the in place upgrade of Vista.
The option to "Upgrade" was blocked out during the install process. And there was no "Troubleshooting" option available, even though the directions provided had mentioned this might be an option. There was no work-around mentioned for how to conduct an in place upgrade when the "upgrade" option was blocked out. So I performed a clean install of Vista -- after saving all my files to an external drive, of course.
